Signs that your gearbox needs replacing

On a Leon 1.4 TSI, several warning signs should not be ignored: stiff or jerky gear changes, crunching when downshifting, difficulty engaging reverse, vibrations felt through the gear lever, a grinding noise in neutral, or a jumping neutral. These symptoms point to internal wear of the gears or synchros and should not be left to worsen.

Exchange basis: reconditioning and deferred delivery

The gearbox is reconditioned through a comprehensive process: full strip-down, cleaning and inspection of every component, replacement of gears, synchros, bearings and seals as required by the wear found, followed by reassembly to manufacturer tolerances and bench testing before dispatch. Under this exchange arrangement, the reconditioned gearbox is dispatched first so that the garage is not left without a vehicle; the old gearbox, with its casing intact, is only collected once the reconditioned unit has been delivered and fitted. Return of the old unit is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

Warranty and payment
