Between 2006 and 2019, the 2.3 Multijet fitted to the 35C came in five distinct engine codes: F1AE0481B, F1AE0481GA, F1AE3481B, F1AGL411G and F1AGL411L. The changeover occurred around 2012: the F1AE0481 variants cover the earlier generation, whilst the F1AGL411 units correspond to the Euro 5 and Euro 6 compliant engines of the subsequent model years. Both families share the same engine capacity but differ in their internal architecture, injection system and machining tolerances.

To identify the correct unit, the engine plate or the certificate of conformity are the only reliable sources — the vehicle's model year and stated power output are not sufficient to distinguish an F1AE3481B from an F1AGL411G. Only a bare engine is offered here; ancillary components and turbo are not included.
