Between 2004 and 2010, the Altea 1.9 TDI was fitted with five distinct engine codes. AVQ, BXJ, BSW, BSU and BRU correspond to different power outputs and emissions standards: these units are not interchangeable. The code is stamped directly on the block itself, typically at the top of the cylinder block on the gearbox side.
