28 years of Skoda production: how the parts families evolved from 1997 to 2025

Between 1997 and 2025, Skoda's mechanical engineering went through several major turning points. The earliest generations — Octavia I, Fabia I — were built around 1.9 TDI diesel units with engine codes BKC, AKE, AFB, AKN and 5-speed manual gearboxes inherited from the A4 platform. From the mid-2000s onwards, the introduction of TSI engines (1.2, 1.4, 1.8) and the first 6-speed DSG units fundamentally changed the parts landscape: dual-clutch automatic gearboxes were added to the catalogue, and turbos became a component in their own right on almost every engine. The next generation, identified by the codes CZDA, CZEA, CDAA, CRMB, DGTE, introduced the 2.0 TDI in 136, 140 and 170 hp variants as well as the 2.0 TSI on the Octavia III and Superb III, with 7-speed DSG units progressively replacing the 6-speed DSG.

Three parts families, nine models: where demand is concentrated

The catalogue covers three families: gearboxes, engines and turbos. The Octavia accounts for the largest share of demand, followed by the Fabia and then the Superb — a direct reflection of their sales volumes and longevity on the road. The Yeti, Rapid and Karoq round out the coverage at lower volumes. On the gearbox side, 6-speed manuals coexist with 6-speed and 7-speed DSG units depending on the engine and year; DSG gearboxes are offered without the mechatronic unit. For turbos, the range distinguishes between new and reconditioned units — a practical choice depending on the condition of the original part and your budget.

Identifying the right part: engine code takes priority over engine capacity

On Skoda vehicles, engine capacity alone is not enough to identify the correct compatible part. A 1.2 TSI may correspond to the codes CBZA, CBZB, CBZC, CHPA, CPTA depending on the power output (86 or 105 hp) and the vehicle generation — codes that do not all accept the same gearbox or the same turbo. Equally, the 1.6 TDI from the 2010s (codes CHHB, CUPA, CHZC) is mechanically different from the naturally aspirated 1.6 petrol. Before placing any order, the code stamped on the engine block remains the only reliable reference, supplemented by the vehicle's exact model year.

    Frequently asked questions

Are your Skoda parts compatible with my model?

We cover the vast majority of Skoda engines. To get the exact part, give us your number plate or request an online quote: our advisers confirm compatibility using your registration document.

    Are reconditioned Skoda parts reliable?

Yes. Every Skoda part is reconditioned in our workshop, with wear parts replaced, bench-tested and guaranteed for up to 24 months. A reliable and far more affordable alternative to new, starting from a restored original part.

How does the exchange system work for a Skoda part?

You order your reconditioned Skoda part, we dispatch it, then you send us back your old unit (the core). We arrange all the transport both ways — you don't have to handle any logistics.

Do you deliver Skoda parts everywhere, and how quickly?

Yes, we deliver throughout France and Europe. Depending on the availability of the reference, your Skoda part leaves our workshop quickly, and you can pay in instalments, up to 10 payments.
