The Citroën Jumper is diesel-only: which turbo geometries apply depending on engine capacity and generation?

Unlike many other vans of the same era, the Jumper has never offered a petrol engine — the entire range is diesel, from the original 2.0 HDi to the more recent 2.2 BlueHDi. That said, a single turbo type does not cover all engine variants. Depending on engine capacity, power output and generation, you will find fixed geometry turbos with a wastegate on the older units, and variable geometry turbos on the more recent versions — the thermal and boost-pressure demands being quite different from one case to the next.

Five engine families, five distinct identification points

The 2.8 HDi 128 (engine code 8140.43S, Iveco block) is the oldest and most atypical engine in the range: its turbo has nothing in common with the PSA or Ford units fitted to the rest of the Jumper. The 2.0 HDi 84 hp covers engine codes 8140.67, RHV (DW10TD) and RHV (DW10UTD) — three codes for the same engine capacity, which means different turbo references depending on the exact variant. The 2.2 HDi 100, 120 and 130 (engine codes 4HU, 4HV) form an intermediate family. Finally, the BlueHDi range covers two engine capacities: the 2.3 BlueHDi 140 on one side, and on the other the 2.0 / 2.2 BlueHDi group (engine codes 4HA, 4HB, 4HH, AHM, AHN, AHP), which spans six power outputs ranging from 110 to 165 hp — turbos are not interchangeable across all variants despite the shared block architecture.

Failure causes to be aware of on a heavily loaded van

The Jumper frequently operates at maximum payload, subjecting the turbo to higher oil temperatures and more severe thermal cycling than a typical passenger car. Lubrication breakdown — old oil, low oil level, or a blocked oil circuit — remains the leading cause of bearing and CHRA failure. A clogged intake circuit and EGR system produces deposits that accelerate vane wear on variable geometry turbos. Persistent whistling, blue or black smoke under acceleration, or a noticeable loss of power are the most common symptoms. Before any replacement, it is essential to identify and address the root cause: fitting a new turbo onto a faulty oil circuit will inevitably lead to another failure. All turbos offered in this collection are brand-new parts, sold with no old unit to return.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

The turbos on this page are new. Each product page states the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Citroën Jumper Turbo.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

No. The turbos on this page are new and sold as a straight sale: nothing to send back, your old turbo stays with you and there is one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Citroën Jumper Turbo?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
