What a reconditioned turbo actually changes behind the wheel of your Fiat Scudo
On a Fiat Scudo used daily for deliveries or goods transport, a turbo in good working order makes an immediate difference: throttle response becomes crisp again at low revs, the engine regains its ability to pull a load without struggling on hills, and black smoke on acceleration disappears. Conversely, a worn turbo shows itself through a gradual loss of power, an unusual whistling noise, excessive oil consumption and sometimes an engine warning light. Fitting a new turbo restores the van's full load capacity and reliability on repeated runs.
Compatibility of the new turbo for Fiat Scudo 2.0 JTD
This new turbo is compatible with reference 706978-5001S, fitted to Fiat Scudo models equipped with the 2.0 JTD diesel engine of 1997 cm³, available in 94 hp and 109 hp versions. The engine codes concerned include RHZ, RHX, RHW, RHM, RHT as well as the designations DW10ATED4, DW10ATED2S, DW10BTED and DW10CTED, depending on the vehicle's year and trim level. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the reference marked on the old turbo once removed, as several variants exist across this engine range.
Exchange basis and warranty on this Fiat Scudo turbo
This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so that the van is not left off the road. The turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
Advice before and after fitting on the 2.0 JTD engine
On this diesel unit as fitted to the Scudo, the majority of turbo failures stem from insufficient lubrication caused by a delayed oil change, oil that does not meet the manufacturer's specifications, or a clogged oil filter. A blocked air filter or a cracked intercooler can also cause irregular boost pressure and accelerate turbine wear. Before fitting, check the condition of the intake and air supply hoses, ensure the oil circuit is clean, and confirm there is no carbon build-up in the return lines. On first start-up, priming the turbo with oil is essential to guarantee immediate lubrication of the bearings and prevent premature seizure.
