Signs of a worn turbo on your Peugeot Rifter 1.5 BlueHDi

On a Peugeot Rifter fitted with the 1.5 BlueHDi engine, a turbo nearing the end of its life often makes itself known through a noticeable loss of power under acceleration, an unusual whistling noise from under the bonnet, or blue smoke from the exhaust — a tell-tale sign of abnormal oil consumption. An illuminated engine warning light on the dashboard, excessive crankcase pressure, or hesitation on pick-up are also common symptoms on this 1.5-litre diesel unit. If your Rifter is showing any of these signs, it is advisable to have the turbocharger inspected before wear begins to affect other engine components.

Compatibility of the new turbo with the Peugeot Rifter

This new turbo is compatible with reference 49S72-03100, intended for Peugeot Rifter models fitted with the 1.5 BlueHDi 75 hp and 1.5 BlueHDi 102 hp engines, corresponding to engine codes YHW (DV5RE) and YHY (DV5RD), in 1499 cm³ Diesel. Before placing an order, we recommend checking the reference printed on your old turbo or on your vehicle registration document, as certain versions may differ depending on the trim level and power output of the vehicle.

Exchange basis and warranty for this Rifter turbo

This new turbo for the Peugeot Rifter is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required, but it is only collected after the new part has been delivered and fitted, so your vehicle is never left off the road unnecessarily. The part comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment for your order can be spread over several instalments, in up to 10 instalments.

Advice before fitting this turbo to your Rifter

On the 1.5 BlueHDi engine, premature turbo failure is most commonly caused by a lubrication fault linked to unsuitable oil quality, missed oil changes, or a clogged air filter allowing contaminants to reach the turbine. A cracked intercooler or poorly secured intake hoses can also cause pressure surges that damage the compressor. Before fitting, check the condition of the oil circuit and the cleanliness of the hoses and air intake, and prime the turbo with oil before the first start-up to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings.
