A new turbo built for the demanding use of the BMW Série 7

The BMW Série 7 (F01/F02/F03/F04) is a high-end saloon frequently used for long motorway journeys, sometimes with a chauffeur, combining comfort with sustained demands on the drivetrain. Under the bonnet of the N63 4.4 petrol twin-turbo V8, the turbochargers operate in an exceptionally hot environment, housed at the heart of the engine block between the two cylinder banks. This layout exposes the turbos to intense heat build-up, making oil quality and adherence to service intervals critical to their longevity.

Compatibility of the new turbo with the Série 7 N63

This new turbo is compatible with reference 821719-5004S and fits the 750i, 750i xDrive, 750Li, 750Li xDrive and ActiveHybrid 7 variants, all powered by the 4.4-litre (4395 cm³) petrol V8 engine coded N63B44A or N63B44B. Before placing an order, please check the reference on your old turbo or on your vehicle's engine plate, as certain N63 variants received technical updates during production.

Exchange basis and warranty for the new turbo

This turbo is sold on an exchange basis: return of the old turbo is required in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, but it is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted, so your Série 7 is never left off the road. The new turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, provided fitting is carried out by a qualified professional. Payment can be spread over up to 10 instalments.

Symptoms and causes of failure on the N63 engine

On this twin-turbo engine with its centrally mounted turbos, signs of a worn turbo include a loss of power under acceleration, blue smoke from the exhaust caused by abnormal oil consumption, or an unusual whistling noise. The most common causes are insufficient lubrication, degraded or incorrect oil, a clogged air filter, a faulty intercooler, or not allowing the engine sufficient time to cool down after hard use.

Advice before fitting the new turbo

Before installation, check the oil circuit, lubrication hoses and air intake to prevent any contamination of the new turbo. When starting up, prime the oil circuit before the first start to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings.
