Signs That the S tronic Gearbox Needs Replacing

Several symptoms indicate wear on this S tronic 6: juddering or jerking during gear changes, dual-clutch slipping under acceleration, the gearbox warning light illuminated on the dashboard, metallic noise in park or neutral, delayed or impossible gear engagement, and a noticeable loss of power despite firm acceleration. On the Audi S3, these signs generally point to internal mechanical wear within the gearbox, and should not be confused with a purely electronic fault.

Exchange: The Solution That Keeps Downtime to a Minimum

This JFP gearbox is offered as an exchange unit, rebuilt to 0 km: the reconditioned unit is dispatched before the old gearbox is collected. The garage can therefore fit the new S tronic straight away, and the old gearbox – casing intact – is only collected after the reconditioned unit has been delivered and fitted. Return of the old unit is required, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, so that the vehicle is never left off the road waiting for a return to be made.

This gearbox is sold without the mechatronic unit: this component is neither reconditioned nor tested – it remains the vehicle's original unit and must be reused by the customer during fitting. The dual-clutch assembly, however, is supplied new with this JFP gearbox.

Reconditioning, Warranty and Payment

This gearbox is fully stripped, cleaned and inspected component by component; any gears, synchros, bearings and seals showing wear are replaced; the unit is then reassembled to manufacturer tolerances and bench-tested before dispatch. This reconditioned gearbox is covered by a 24-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a qualified professional. Payment for this JFP gearbox can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.
