Reconditioning follows a rigorous process: the gearbox is completely stripped, cleaned and inspected component by component; gears, synchromesh rings, bearings and seals are replaced according to the wear found; the unit is then reassembled to manufacturer tolerances before bench testing confirms that every gear engages correctly.
