On Dacia models, engine capacity alone is not enough: a single 1.5 dCi can conceal up to eight different engine codes depending on the model and the year of manufacture.

This is the most common pitfall with this range. The 1.5 dCi is fitted to the Duster, Sandero, Logan, Lodgy and Dokker alike — yet the associated engine codes range from K9K 612 to K9K 898, taking in K9K 626, K9K 792, K9K 856, K9K 858, K9K 874, K9K 894 and K9K 896 along the way. These variants correspond to different power outputs, emissions standards and internal architectures: two parts sharing the same engine capacity are not interchangeable. Reading the code stamped on the block is the only reliable way to order the correct reference.

Petrol: a proliferation of engine families over a short period

On the petrol side, the variety between generations is even more pronounced. The 1.2 TCe (codes H5F, H5F402, H5F404, H5F408) coexisted with the 0.9 TCe (H4B_408) and the 1.3 TCe (H5H_470, H5H_494) depending on the model year and variant. The 1.6 naturally aspirated (K4M, K7M) and the 1.4 (K4M, B4D, D4F, D4F732) remain present on versions produced before 2012. The 1.0 TCe and the 1.0 SCe 100 cover the more recent Sandero and Logan models. Identifying the exact engine code avoids any confusion between units that are physically similar but technically incompatible.

Gearboxes: manual only, 5 or 6 speeds depending on the model

The Dacia range covered here includes manual gearboxes only — there are no automatic or automated manual gearboxes in this catalogue. The available references are 5-speed manuals and 6-speed manuals, spread across five models (Duster, Sandero, Lodgy, Dokker, Logan) covering the years 2004 to 2026. References JR5083, JR5346, JR5377, TL4361, TL8000 and TL8005 illustrate the breadth of variants: the same 6-speed manual gearbox can feature different internal ratios depending on whether it is fitted to a Duster 4x4 or a Sandero. The model, the engine and the engine code remain the three pieces of information to cross-reference before placing any order, whether for a reconditioned engine or an exchange gearbox.
