Lodgy: seven seats and heavy loads, but a 5-speed or 6-speed gearbox depending on the engine

Designed to carry large families and luggage over long distances, the Lodgy puts its transmission under very different stresses from a light city car. Long motorway runs, hill starts with a full load, and rapidly accumulating mileage all accelerate wear on the gearbox synchromesh and bearings. It is often a stiff change on 3rd or 4th gear that makes a diagnosis unavoidable. Before placing an order, it is essential to identify precisely which gearbox is fitted to your vehicle, as the Lodgy uses two distinct gearbox families depending on the engine.

Three engines, two gearbox families

The 1.6 naturally aspirated (codes K7M and H4M) and the 1.2 TCe (codes H5F402 and H5F408) both use a 5-speed manual gearbox, but they are different references: JH3084 for the 1.6 K7M, and JR5079 or JR5377 for the 1.2 TCe. These two gearboxes are not interchangeable. The 1.5 dCi (codes K9K 846, K9K 872 and K9K 666) is the only Lodgy engine that can take a 6-speed gearbox (references TL4050 or JR5340) or a 5-speed, depending on the variant and production period, covering the model years 2012 à 2022. The engine code, visible on the manufacturer's plate or on the block itself, remains the most reliable way to determine which reference matches your vehicle.

Key points to watch on the 1.5 dCi and 1.2 TCe

On K9K engines, the 5-speed and 6-speed gearboxes share the same engine but differ in their final drive ratio and casing: fitting the wrong reference causes gear-change problems and sealing issues. On the 1.2 TCe, the JR5079 and JR5377 gearboxes correspond to two distinct sub-variants of the H5F; checking the engine code suffix avoids any ordering error. The 1.6 K7M, the simplest engine in the range, has a robust gearbox, though its seals tend to deteriorate on high-mileage examples.
