Lodgy 2012–2022: why do 8 engine codes coexist on a single 1.2 TCe?

The 1.2 TCe (H5F) in the Lodgy comes in eight engine code variants — H5F-400 through to H5F-412 — which do not share the same internal dimensions and cannot be swapped without prior verification. Before ordering a bare engine, the code stamped on the block is therefore the only reliable reference to confirm compatibility.

Three engine families across two fuel types

The Lodgy spans two fuel types across its entire production run: petrol and diesel. On the petrol side, the 1.2 TCe accounts for the vast majority of the range with its eight H5F variants, joined by the 1.3 TCe (H5H_470), which appeared towards the end of the model's life. On the diesel side, the 1.5 dCi (K9K612) covers almost all of the Lodgy's diesel production. These three engine families share no common parts with one another.

Identification points to check before placing an order

On the 1.2 TCe, successive revisions to the H5F have affected the timing system, lubrication and liner tolerances: an H5F-400 (2012) is not mechanically identical to an H5F-412. The 1.5 dCi K9K612 is, for its part, well known for its particular sensitivity to oil quality and service intervals; carbon deposit build-up in the oil circuit is a frequently observed cause of premature wear on this block under heavy urban use. The 1.3 TCe H5H_470, being more recent, has a still limited real-world track record on this model. In all three cases, the full code stamped on the engine block remains the only reliable basis for identification to ensure an exact match with the bare engine on offer.
