Dokker 1.2 TCe or 1.5 dCi: same van, two engines with no shared parts

The Dokker is built around two entirely separate engine families, and no component crosses over from one to the other. Choosing the right bare engine starts with the fuel type, then comes down to the exact engine code stamped on the block, because the engine capacity alone is not enough to identify it.

The 1.2 TCe and its eight H5F code variants

The bulk of the catalogue covers the 1.2 TCe petrol, fitted from 2012 to 2021 under eight distinct codes: H5F-400, H5F-402, H5F-403, H5F-404, H5F-408, H5F-409, H5F-410 and H5F-412. These variants reflect changes to the injection system, cylinder head or thermal management introduced over successive model years. Two different codes on two Dokkers from the same year can therefore point to blocks that are not interchangeable. This H5F block is known for timing chain issues on early versions — the telltale symptom being a metallic rattling noise on cold starts, particularly after a long period of inactivity.

The 1.5 dCi and its single code K9K612

The 1.5 dCi diesel is represented by just one code, the K9K612, across the same 2012–2021 period. Identification is more straightforward here, but care is still needed: this K9K code is a specific variant within the very broad K9K family shared by Renault and Dacia, and variants from other models are not interchangeable. Common wear symptoms on this block include a gradual increase in oil consumption and, in more advanced cases, a clogged EGR valve that accelerates internal deterioration.
