Dokker petrol or diesel: which bare engine for which code?

The answer comes down to two clearly distinct engine families: the 1.2 TCe and the 1.5 dCi, covering Dokker production from 2012 to 2021. The two families share no common parts: the engine code stamped on the block remains the only reliable reference for ordering the correct replacement.

1.5 dCi: a single code, K9K612

On the diesel side, the situation is straightforward: the Dokker 1.5 dCi is based on the code K9K612, a variant of the K9K shared with other light commercial vehicles in the Renault-Dacia group from the same period. This block has well-documented weaknesses in the lubrication circuit when oil changes are left too long, which frequently leads to a bare engine replacement rather than a partial repair.

1.2 TCe: eight H5F variants, accurate identification is essential

The 1.2 TCe is the petrol engine fitted to the Dokker throughout the 2012–2021 period and accounts for the bulk of the variety: eight codes exist — H5F-400, H5F-402, H5F-403, H5F-404, H5F-408, H5F-409, H5F-410 and H5F-412. These variants reflect internal developments to the block across model years and markets: an H5F-400 cannot be substituted by an H5F-412 without prior verification. Identifying the exact code before ordering is therefore essential. The H5F is also known for timing chain issues and abnormal oil consumption on certain versions — symptoms that often precede the decision to replace the engine.
