Is your Sandero engine code one of K9K, D4F, K7J, H4D, H4B or K4M/K7M?

This is the essential starting point: on the Sandero, the same engine capacity can conceal different engine codes that do not share the same gearbox. The 1.5 dCi covers three codes — K9K 612, K9K 626 and K9K 792 — spanning successive generations from 2008 to the present day, each paired with its own 5-speed manual gearbox reference. The 1.2 petrol comes in D4F and D4F732; the 1.4 in K7J, K7J710 and K7J714 — three codes for a single engine capacity, again not interchangeable from one code to another.

Special cases not to be confused

The code H4D appears under both the 1.0 and the 1.0 TCe: although the engines share this code, the gearboxes differ — the naturally aspirated 1.0 gets a 5-speed manual, while the 1.0 TCe gets a 6-speed manual. It is the only engine in this guide fitted with a 6-speed gearbox. The 0.9 TCe (codes H4B400, H4BB4, H4Bt400) retains a 5-speed manual. Finally, the 1.6 may carry a code of K4M or K7M: two different architectures, two distinct gearbox references.

Petrol or diesel: what this guide covers

All Sandero engines from 2008 to 2026 are covered here, both petrol and diesel. Every gearbox listed is a manual — 5-speed in the vast majority of cases, 6-speed exclusively on the 1.0 TCe. No automatic or automated manual gearbox is referenced for this model in the guide. Before making any selection, locate your engine code: it is stamped on the engine block and is the only reliable identifier for confirming compatibility.
