Ducato 2.2 Multijet: three generations of engine codes between 2006 and 2014

The Ducato 2.2 Multijet did not remain unchanged throughout the 2006–2014 period. The codes recorded in technical files reveal several successive families: the 4HU and 4HV / P22DTE units form the original base, to which the cross-referenced PSA codes RHV and PGFA were added, followed by a series of later variants — SRFA, SRFB, QVFA, QWFA, P8FA, P8FB — linked to successive emissions updates and power revisions. A single model year may therefore contain units from different families depending on the vehicle specification.

Identifying the unit precisely before placing any order

The most common source of confusion involves visually similar units such as the 4HV and the P22DTE, which in fact designate the same engine under two different coding systems — one Fiat, the other Ford. Conversely, two vehicles of the same year with the same engine capacity may carry incompatible units if the codes PGFA, P8FA or SRFA are not distinguished. The manufacturer's plate and the physical marking on the block remain the only reliable means of resolving this uncertainty. Every engine listed here is a bare engine: ancillary components (turbo, injectors, alternator) are not included and must be transferred from the original engine.
