What changes behind the wheel of your Peugeot Expert with a new turbo

On a Peugeot Expert fitted with a 1.6 HDi engine, a turbo in good condition makes a real, tangible difference: sharper pick-up from low revs, a van that no longer struggles under a full load, and exhaust smoke that returns to normal. As soon as the turbo starts to fail, the Expert driver notices a loss of power under acceleration, sometimes an unusual whistling noise, and fuel consumption that rises for no apparent reason. Fitting a new turbo restores the driving feel the vehicle had from new – an important point for a van that is often used daily with heavy loads.

Compatibility of the new turbo for the Peugeot Expert 1.6 HDi

This new turbo is compatible with reference 819872-5002S and covers the 1.6 HDi 115 and 1.6 HDi 120 engines in the Peugeot Expert, associated with engine codes 9HC, 9HD, BHX and BHZ. Before placing an order, it is strongly recommended that you check the reference shown on your old turbo or on the engine plate of your Expert, as several turbo variants may exist depending on the exact version of the vehicle and its date of manufacture.

Exchange basis and warranty for this Peugeot Expert turbo

This new turbo is sold on an exchange basis: in accordance with our Terms and Conditions, return of the old turbo is required. It is only collected after the new turbo has been delivered and fitted to your Expert, so that the vehicle is not left off the road during the process. This turbo comes with a 12-month parts warranty, subject to fitting being carried out by a professional. Payment can be spread over multiple instalments, in up to 10 instalments.

Advice before fitting on the Peugeot Expert 1.6 HDi

Turbo failure on a 1.6 HDi is very often caused by a lubrication fault: insufficient oil quality, missed oil changes, or a clogged oil filter. A blocked air filter or a damaged intercooler also contribute to premature wear of the rotating assembly. Before fitting the new turbo to your Expert, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses, and the cleanliness of the air intake. When starting up, make sure to prime the turbo with oil before the first start, to ensure immediate lubrication of the bearings.
