Why does the turbo fail on the Ford Connect 1.8 TDCi 110?
On the Ford Connect fitted with the Duratorq 1.8 TDCi 110 hp engine – used in both the Transit Connect van and the Tourneo Connect people carrier – the turbocharger is put under particular strain by intensive professional use, frequent short journeys and repeated cold starts. Insufficient lubrication, degraded oil or missed oil changes quickly clog the turbo shaft bearings, causing excessive play, whistling noises and ultimately failure. A blocked air filter or a cracked intercooler also upsets the air/fuel balance and accelerates wear on the turbo assembly. Driving that alternates between hard acceleration and immediately switching off the engine, without any cooling-down period, also promotes oil carbonisation in the centre housing.
Compatibility of the new turbo for the Ford Connect 1.8 TDCi
This new turbo is compatible with reference 758532-5019S, intended for Ford Connect vehicles (Tourneo Connect and Transit Connect) fitted with the 1.8 TDCi 110 hp diesel engine with an engine capacity of 1753 cm³. The associated engine codes are HCPA, HCPB, P9PA, P9PB, P9PC, P9PD, R3PA, RWPA, RWPC, RWPD, RWPE and RWPF. Before placing an order, we recommend checking the reference marked on your old turbo or on your vehicle's engine plate to confirm it matches your unit exactly.
