The diesel and petrol Caddy do not share the same turbo: engine codes settle the question

On the Caddy, the engine type alone is not enough to identify the correct turbo — it is the engine code stamped on the block that determines the exact reference. Two 1.9 TDI units of identical power output may require different turbos depending on whether the code isBKC, BXE or BRU on one side, or AFN or ASV on the other — the latter corresponding to the 1.9 TDI 110 hp with its own OEM references.

1.9 TDI: three code families, three groups of references

The 1.9 TDI is the most widely represented engine in this range. The 90–105 hp variant covers the codesBKC, BXE, BRU, BXF, BXJ and accounts for a large volume of reconditioned references available on an exchange basis — the only Caddy engine offered on this basis. The standalone 1.9 TDI 105 hp (codeBJB) and the 1.9 TDI 110 hp (codesAFN, ASV) each have new turbos available. The 1.6 TDI 75–102 hp (codesCAYE, CAYD, BLS) is also covered by new turbos. On these variable-geometry units, the bearings and seals are the most common weak points; degraded oil or a clogged lubrication circuit accelerates wear — addressing this root cause before any replacement is essential.

1.2 TSI: a petrol engine not to be confused with the others

The 1.2 TSI 86 and 105 hp variants (codesCBZA, CBZB, CBZC) take a single new turbo, sold as a straightforward sale. This small petrol unit fitted with a fixed-geometry turbo is most susceptible to air leaks or oil filter blockages; the classic symptoms are a whistling noise when cold and a sharp drop in low-rev torque. References 03F145701F, 03F145701G and their variants cover the bulk of this scope, but the suffix letter (V, X) indicates the packaging — it does not change the part itself.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the turbo new or reconditioned?

It depends on the reference: each product page states whether the turbo is new (straight sale, nothing to send back) or reconditioned (exchange basis), together with the original manufacturer reference and its equivalent references for your Volkswagen Caddy Turbo.

What warranty comes with the turbo?

Every turbo is guaranteed for 12 months, provided it is fitted by a professional. The warranty covers the part; labour is not included. Before fitting, the cause of the previous failure (lubrication, oil feed, intake leak, EGR / DPF clogging) must be fixed.

Do I need to send back my old turbo?

Only for a reconditioned turbo, sold on an exchange basis: you return your old turbo after the new one has been delivered and fitted, and we arrange the collection. A new turbo is a straight sale: nothing to send back, one single delivery.

How do I make sure I order the right turbo for my Volkswagen Caddy Turbo?

Compatibility depends on the engine code and the reference stamped on your turbo, not just on the model. Enter your number plate or request a quote: our advisers confirm the exact reference before you order. You can pay in up to 10 instalments.
