Reconditioned Nissan Note 1.5 dCi Engine

Small city car, high mileage: why the K9K engine in the Note 1.5 dCi wears out quickly

The Nissan Note is primarily a city car used daily for short journeys, sometimes fully loaded and often driven in urban conditions. This usage pattern is precisely what puts strain on the K9K engine: the engine rarely reaches its optimum operating temperature, the diesel particulate filter clogs prematurely, and the turbo is put under load from cold. When failure occurs, it is rarely gradual.

11 K9K variants between 2006 and 2013: the differences you need to know

This guide covers 11 distinct engine codes: K9K700, K9K702, K9K704, K9K710, K9K734, K9K780, K9K790, K9K292, K9K430, K9K804 and K9K806. These codes are not interchangeable: the early series (K9K700, K9K702) predate significant revisions to the cylinder head and injection system introduced on the K9K780 variants and later. An engine from a late series cannot mechanically replace a first-generation block without first checking the mounting points and wiring connectors. The code is stamped on the casing and remains the only valid identification reference, regardless of the stated power output.

What this collection covers

The engines listed here are bare engines: ancillaries, turbo, injectors and accessories are not included. The available sales method requires the return of the original unit. Given the wide range of K9K codes fitted to the Note between 2006 and 2013, always verify the exact code before ordering to avoid returns or fitment incompatibilities.
