On the Audi A5 2.0 TDI from model years 2008 to 2016, the transmission is exclusively a 6-speed manual — but behind this apparent uniformity lie several distinct gearboxes, indexed to the engine code stamped in the engine bay. Five engine codes are referenced within this scope: CAGA, CAHA, CGLC, CJCA and CMFA. A single model year can cover two different codes depending on the output chosen (150 or 170 hp depending on the year), and the ratios as well as the gearbox casings are not identical across families. For the most commonly available codes such as CJCA or CMFA, exchange stock is generally more plentiful and lead times are shorter.
