CDAA: which engine code drives which gearbox on the TT 1.8 TFSI?

On the TT 1.8 TFSI produced between 2008 and 2014, only one engine code is listed in this collection: the CDAA. This is what determines which gearbox is compatible — not the year alone. This code identifies the 1.8 TFSI 160 hp unit introduced on the second-generation TT (8J). Depending on the configuration, the CDAA can be paired with two types of manual transmission: a 5-speed or a 6-speed. These two families are not interchangeable: the casing, length and mounting points differ.
