DSG 6 or DSG 7 on the TT 2.0 TFSI: does the switch depend on the year or the engine code?

Both generations coexist across the 2006–2014 period, but it is not simply the year of manufacture that determines which is fitted: the engine code is the decisive factor. The code BWA corresponds to the earliest versions and is paired with the DSG 6, whilst the codes CCZA and CESA are found on later model years paired with the DSG 7 with dry clutches.

    Two architectures, two failure behaviours

The DSG 6 (DQ250) uses oil-bathed clutches and generally proves robust under repeated spirited driving. The DSG 7 (DQ200), with its dry clutches, is more susceptible to low-speed manoeuvring stress and thermal overload during dynamic driving: cold shudder, judder in first gear and reverse, and gear refusal are its most well-documented symptoms on this unit. Both gearboxes are sold with a new dual-clutch, mechatronic unit not included: the mechatronic unit is a separate electrohydraulic or electronic assembly and must be addressed independently if it is also at fault.

Identify the correct reference before ordering

On the TT 2.0 TFSI, the reference range is wide — codes RGC, RGD, LTL, QLT, MMG, LTY, LRK, LQZ, KRF and KPV give some idea of the scope — and two gearboxes that appear similar may have incompatible ratios and controls. Checking the engine code stamped on the block before placing any order avoids a misidentification that neither the year nor the stated power output can rule out on their own.

    Frequently asked questions

Is a gearbox for this Audi model in stock?

We currently list 17 references reconditioned for this model. Availability depends on the exact engine: enter your number plate to confirm stock in real time, or request an online quote.

How can I be sure it is compatible with my Audi?

Compatibility depends on the engine / gearbox code, not just the model. The most reliable way is your number plate or registration document: our advisers confirm the right gearbox for your vehicle before you order.

Do I need to send back my old unit?

Yes, that is the principle of an exchange unit: you return your old gearbox (the core), which we recondition in turn. We arrange transport both ways, so you don't have to handle any logistics.

How long does it take to receive the gearbox for my Audi?

Once compatibility is confirmed and depending on the availability of the reference, the part leaves our workshop ready to fit, delivered throughout France and Europe, with payment in instalments available (up to 10 payments).
