ETG6: what the automated gearbox changes on this engine

The ETG6 is an automated manual gearbox with no dual-clutch system. It shares its basic architecture with the 5-speed manual but incorporates an electro-hydraulic actuator that manages gear changes. The unit is sold without this actuator: only the internal mechanical components are reconditioned. The common symptoms that lead to replacement of the mechanical section are bearing noise, stiff gear changes when cold, and oil leaks from the casing.
