DV6, DV5, EB2, WJY: does your Berlingo engine code point to the right block?

This collection covers the Berlingo from 2005 to 2024 across four engine variants, but it is the engine code stamped on your block — not just the engine capacity — that determines the exact reference to order. Within the 1.6 HDi alone, the DV6 family encompasses several distinct variants: DV6ATED4 (also known as 9HX or 9H02), DV6BTED4, DV6FC / BHZ and DV6FD / BHY. These blocks share the same 1 598 cm³ displacement, yet their cylinder heads, pistons and injection systems differ enough to make them non-interchangeable. Confusing a 2005 DV6ATED4 with a 2013 DV6FC is the most common mistake made on this model.

1.5 BlueHDi and 1.9 D: two generations worlds apart

The 1.5 BlueHDi (Berlingo III, from 2018 onwards) is based on the DV5 family: codes DV5RD / YHY and DV5RCF / YHT. These blocks feature an SCR architecture and share no internal components with the earlier DV6 units. At the other end of the spectrum, the 1.9 D (code WJY) was fitted to the early Berlingo I up to 2008: an XUD engine without common rail, with a design radically different from all HDi blocks.

1.2 PureTech: the only petrol engine in the range

The 1.2 PureTech 110 (code EB2DT / HNZ) makes its appearance on the petrol Berlingo III. This 1 199 cm³ three-cylinder turbo is well known for its particular sensitivity to the timing chain — a key point to check during any diagnosis before replacing the block. There is only one reference in this collection for this engine: make sure your code matches HNZ before placing an order, as other PureTech variants carry distinct codes not covered here.
