Only the code stamped on the existing engine allows you to order the correct unit: the year on the registration document and the fiscal horsepower rating are not sufficient to distinguish a G6DA from a UFDB, even though they share the same engine capacity and a similar power output.

Known weak points on this diesel engine

The DW10 and DW12 families associated with these codes have well-documented vulnerabilities: oil circuit sludge build-up encouraged by extended service intervals, premature crankshaft bearing wear when oil pressure is insufficient, and cylinder head cracking on the variants most exposed to thermal stress. Replacement of the bare engine is typically required following a diagnosis of bearing play, a connecting rod failure, or internal distortion that cannot be corrected by machining alone.
