Same 2.2 HDi on the Jumper: how many different blocks are there behind that single designation?

The answer is unambiguous: several dozen distinct engine codes coexist under the 2.2 HDi designation on the Jumper between 2006 and 2021. A 2008 vehicle fitted with a 4HU and another from 2016 equipped with a DW12RUE or a DRFA share the same engine capacity, but they are entirely different architectures, with incompatible dimensions, cylinder heads and ancillaries. Mixing up these families means ordering a part that simply won't fit.

Three main families — do not mix them up

This guide covers three principal lineages. The 4Hx codes (4HU, 4HV, 4HG, 4HJ, 4HM, 4H03) correspond to the oldest generations, derived from the DW12 block developed through the PSA–Ford partnership. The DW12RUC, DW12RUD, DW12RUE codes denote intermediate evolutions meeting Euro 5 and Euro 6 standards depending on the model year. The DRFx, CYFx, PGFA, QVFA, SRFA, UHFA series and their variants (final letter A or B) represent the latest-generation blocks, often paired with distinct injection and emissions-control systems. The engine code is stamped on the block itself and must be checked before placing any order: the first registration date alone is not sufficient to distinguish between these families.

Key points to watch with this block in commercial vehicle use

As the Jumper is primarily used under load, mileages are often high by the time replacement becomes necessary. On 4Hx-generation engines, cylinder head fatigue and EGR valve issues are well-documented weaknesses. On DRFx and CYFx blocks, sensitivity to the cooling circuit is an established concern. The engine offered here is a bare engine: ancillaries (turbo, alternator, starter motor, water pump) are not included and must be reused or replaced separately depending on their condition.
