The final letter — R or L — distinguishes two internal variants within each generation; it appears on the engine identification plate and determines the exact block reference to order.

The A → B → D progression corresponds to generational updates (Corsa C, D, E) involving real mechanical differences: dimensions, integrated ancillaries, and mounting points.
