In this range, engine capacity alone is not enough to identify the correct block. The Laguna II 2.2 dCi is based on the G9TG9Tnine distinct codes — from G9T-600 to G9T-707 — covering the period 2001–2005. Two blocks with closely related suffixes (G9T-606 and G9T-607, for example) are not necessarily interchangeable: calibration and power output changes between model years create internal differences that a simple reading of the engine capacity conceals. Only the code stamped on the engine casing is a reliable basis for ordering the correct reference.

Known weaknesses of the G9T on this model year

The G9T family shares with other Renault engines of this era a well-documented sensitivity to head gasket deterioration, accelerated by the repeated thermal cycling typical of a large-capacity diesel. The early signs — persistent white smoke when warm, coolant loss with no visible external leak — point directly to the block rather than to ancillary components. The engines listed here are bare engines: original ancillaries (turbo, pump, injectors) are not included and must be inspected or replaced separately during fitting.
