Captur 2013–2024: five engine codes across three petrol engine families and one diesel

On the Captur, it is the engine code — not the displayed engine capacity — that determines the compatible unit. The same "1.2 TCe" can take a H5F_403 or a H5F_412 depending on the year of manufacture, and a "0.9 TCe" corresponds to either the H4B400 (also designated H4B_400), or the H4B_408 — two distinct codes for two variants of the same 898 cm³ unit. The only diesel in the range, the 1.5 dCi 110, carries the code K9K 646, which sets it apart from the many other K9K variants found across the Renault range.

H5H family: the 1.3 TCe introduced on the facelifted generation

The 1.3 TCe arrived on the Captur from 2019 onwards, progressively replacing the 1.2 TCe. It comes in two codes: H5H_450 and H5H_470. Both codes belong to the H5H family, which is distinct from the H5F family of the 1.2 TCe: the units are not interchangeable despite their similar dimensions. Checking the code before placing any order is essential, particularly on Capturs produced between 2019 and 2021, when both generations of engine were available simultaneously depending on the market and specification.

What the engine code does not always tell you: key points to watch on the 0.9 TCe

The three-cylinder 0.9 TCe was fitted to the Captur from 2013 until the end of the first generation. The H4B family is known for premature wear when the timing belt has not been properly maintained, and for high oil consumption on certain high-mileage examples. The code H4B400 and the code H4B_408 correspond to internal variants: only the code visible on the engine itself or in the vehicle's documentation allows you to select the correct unit. All engines listed here are bare engines.
