Advice before and after fitting

On the 2.0 TDI, premature turbo failure is most commonly caused by insufficient lubrication, poor-quality oil or missed oil changes, but also by a clogged air filter or a cracked intercooler allowing contaminants to reach the turbine. Before fitting the new turbo, check the oil circuit, the condition of the hoses and the cleanliness of the air intake to prevent the new part from becoming contaminated quickly. When starting up for the first time, prime the turbo with oil through the feed pipe to ensure immediate lubrication on start-up. Driving smoothly, letting the engine idle for a few moments after a hard run, and checking the oil level regularly will all help to extend the life of your new turbo.
