Reconditioned Citroën C2 1.4 HDi Gearbox

On the C2 1.4 HDi, the available gearbox changed during production between 2003 and 2009

The 1.4 HDi powered the Citroën C2 from its launch in 2003 until the model was discontinued in 2009, but the transmission fitted to it did not remain constant throughout. Two configurations coexisted on this engine: the 5-speed manual gearbox and the SensoDrive, the latter being an automated manual gearbox supplied without its actuator. The engine codes concerned are 8HX and 8HZ: two distinct codes corresponding to different calibrations, which determine gearbox compatibility.

Manual or SensoDrive: two architectures, two use cases

The 5-speed manual is the most common version on this entry-level diesel, favoured for intensive urban use. The SensoDrive, identifiable by the absence of a clutch pedal, shares the same mechanical base but incorporates an electronic actuator: it is supplied without this actuator, which the customer must retain or source separately. Before placing any order, it is essential to cross-reference the year of first registration and the engine code stamped on the block: 8HX and 8HZ do not necessarily take the same gearbox reference, and several references coexist in the catalogue — including 20CQ03, 20CQ40, 20CQ59 and 20CP54 — and are not interchangeable.
