Reconditioned Ford B-Max Gearbox

The 1.0 EcoBoost in the B-Max covers three distinct engine codes, each of which may require a different gearbox

This is the most common pitfall with this model: the 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine comes in the codes M1JA, M1JE and SFJA, and these variants do not necessarily share the same 5-speed manual gearbox. The reference stamped on the gearbox itself — for example ET7R-7002-ABE, DV1R-7002-CBB or BA6R-7002-ABH — is the only reliable way to avoid an ordering error. Checking only the engine capacity or the year (the B-Max covers the period 2012–2017) is not enough.

Diesel: two engines, a single gearbox ratio count, but engine codes not to be confused

The B-Max diesel is available with a 1.5 TDCi (code XVJC) and a 1.6 TDCi (codes T1JA and T3JB). Both engines are paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, but the gearboxes associated with each engine are not the same. The 1.6 TDCi itself comes in two distinct engine codes, which can further differentiate compatible parts. Again, the gearbox reference takes precedence over any other criterion.
