On the EcoSport 1.0 EcoBoost, the 5- or 6-speed gearbox depends on the engine code, not the model year

This is the most common source of confusion on this model: two different gear ratios coexist on the same three-cylinder block depending on the exact variant. The engine codes M1JJ, M1JC, UGJC and XVJD are the deciding factor, as two vehicles from the same model year can be fitted with incompatible gearboxes.

1.0 EcoBoost: why the number of ratios varies

Over the 2014–2017 period covered by this catalogue, the 1.0 EcoBoost is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed manual depending on the power output and engine variant. The gearbox reference always begins with GN1R-7002 followed by a variable suffix (AFC, AFJ, AFH, AFG, AFD) that distinguishes the configurations. Using a reference with a different suffix risks a final drive ratio mismatch or gear selection problem.

1.5 TDCi: one gearbox, but two references

The 1.5 TDCi diesel takes only a 5-speed manual, identifiable by the references CN1R-7002-PD, CN1R-7002-AE and CN1R7002AD. These references are specific to the diesel and are not interchangeable with the petrol gearboxes on the EcoSport. The 1.5 TDCi is less well represented in this catalogue (two references compared with six for the EcoBoost), which reflects the actual distribution of this model in the French vehicle parc.
