On the 1.0 EcoBoost EcoSport, it is the engine code — not the model year alone — that determines which manual gearbox was fitted as standard. The code M1JC is paired with the 5-speed manual gearbox, whilst the code M1JJ corresponds to the 6-speed manual gearbox. Both codes coexist across the 2014–2017 period: ordering without checking this code risks receiving a mechanically incompatible gearbox.

Identifying your code before ordering

The engine code is stamped directly on the block and also appears on the V5C registration document under section P.5. Among the references available for this range — including GN1R7002AFC, GN1R7002AFD or CN1R-7002-PD — each reference is linked to one of the two codes. The same year of first registration can therefore correspond to either one: the year alone is not enough to determine which applies — the engine code is essential.
