The K9K block fitted to the 1.5 dCi Mégane comes in sixteen referenced variants in this catalogue — from K9K_292 to K9K_896 — depending on the year of manufacture, the Mégane generation (II, III or IV) and the power output. Two vehicles both badged "1.5 dCi" may therefore require bare engines that are incompatible with each other. The engine code stamped on the block — not the engine capacity or the stated power output — is the only reliable starting point for identifying the exact reference.

Diesel: K9K, F9Q, M9R and R9M — four families, each with distinct generations

The diesel range covers four engine families spanning the 2002–2022 period. The F9Q (1.9 dCi, codes F9Q800, F9Q812, F9QJ803, F9Q_818) covers the Mégane II generations. The M9R (2.0 dCi, codes M9R780 to M9R7E7) is fitted mainly to the Mégane III, particularly the high-power sporting and family variants.
