Reconditioned Peugeot 5008 Gearbox

On the 1.6 HDi in the 5008, the engine capacity does not refer to a single gearbox but to two distinct families depending on the engine code

This is the most common pitfall with this range: a 5008 1.6 HDi can be fitted with either a 6-speed manual or a BMP6, and these two units are not interchangeable in any way. The BMP6 is an automated manual gearbox with a single clutch — it is sold without its actuator (robot), which the customer must source separately. The engine code is the only reliable way to remove any ambiguity: 9HZ (DV6TED4), 9HR (DV6C) and 9HC (DV6C) correspond to different applications and different years within the same 1.6 HDi engine capacity. Checking the code stamped on the casing before placing an order will prevent any reference errors.

2.0 HDi and 1.2 PureTech: more straightforward configurations

The 2.0 HDi (engine codes RHE and RHH) is only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which makes identification simpler — however, the two engine codes do not necessarily share the same gearbox reference. The 1.2 PureTech (engine codes HN01, HN05, HNS) is the only petrol unit in the range, introduced on recent generations of the 5008 (up to 2024); it also uses a 6-speed manual gearbox. The coverage spans 2009 à 2024, meaning that two 5008s with the same engine but from different years may require different parts.

Available reconditioning options

For every reference in the catalogue, two options are available: exchange, where the customer returns their old unit, and rebuilding your own gearbox, where the vehicle's original unit is reconditioned and returned. This second option is useful when the gearbox has a specific dimension or adaptation that cannot be matched through a direct exchange.
