Identify the correct code before placing any order

The registration year alone is not enough to determine the correct engine: two Transits from the same year with the same stated power output can carry blocks from entirely different families. The reference to use is always the four- or five-character code stamped directly on the block, not the data on the V5C or the engine label. On working Transits, this code is often caked in grime or partially illegible: cleaning the area beforehand is essential for a reliable reading.
