The Transit 2.2 TDCi of this period is built around two clearly separate technical families: the Ford PSA (4H-series: 4H03, 4HG, 4HJ, 4HM, 4HU, 4HV) blocks born from the Ford-PSA co-development programme, and the Duratorq in-house blocks (CY, CV, DR, UH, SR, PG, QV, QW, P8… series) introduced progressively from 2011 onwards. Both families share the same engine capacity but differ in internal architecture, cylinder head design and mounting points.

Why the production year alone is not enough to identify the correct block

Across the 2006–2014 range, Ford ran both families in parallel for several years — particularly between 2011 and 2013, depending on the market and the power output chosen (85, 100, 115, 125 or 140 hp). A Transit registered in 2012 could be fitted with either a 4HV or a CYRA: only the code stamped on the block — not the year or the power output — makes it possible to select the correct part. The 4H-series blocks are also well known for cylinder head cracking and clogged EGR valves in heavy urban use, both early warning signs of block failure itself. The Duratorq DR and CY variants, for their part, show turbo bush wear and abnormal oil consumption on high-mileage examples.

The engines in this collection are sold on an exchange basis: the customer dispatches their old block after receiving the reconditioned unit. EDEN BOITES works exclusively on bare engines; ancillary components (turbo, alternator, starter motor, injection pump) are not included and must be transferred from the old block.
