The 208 1.4 VTi is above all a town car used daily — frequent cold starts, short journeys, repeated low-rev running. This usage profile accelerates wear on the piston rings and timing components, and often leads to block replacement. Five engine codes exist within this scope: EP3C, 8FR, 8FP, 8FN and 8F01. These are variants from the same Prince family developed jointly with BMW, but their internal dimensions and parts compatibility differ.

Before placing any order, the engine code stamped on the block takes precedence over all other information. Confusing 8FR with 8FP, for example, can result in incompatible mountings or ancillaries. The engine is supplied as a bare unit: injectors, coils, alternator and starter motor are not included and must be transferred from the old block.
