Between 2000 and 2016, the Expert's 2.0 HDi was produced in no fewer than 22 engine variants, grouped under distinct engine codes: DW10FE, DW10FC, DW10FD, DW10FDDU, DW10FDCU, DW10UTED4, and a series of short PSA codes (G6DA to G6DG, UFBA, UFDA, UFDB, TXWA, RHW, RH02, QXBA, QXBB, AHZ). These families are not interchangeable: they differ in their engine management systems, cylinder heads and internal mechanical specifications. Only the code stamped on the block itself — not the engine capacity or the year alone — allows the correct part to be identified with certainty.

When to opt for rebuilding your own unit

For certain less common engine codes on an exchange basis, or where the Expert has been adapted for a specific use (conversions, accessories mounted to the block, workshop configurations), rebuilding the original engine may be the more practical choice. It is also worth considering when the vehicle's full service history is known and the block shows only partial wear with no structural damage. Key points to watch on the Expert 2.0 HDi

The DW10 generations are known to be susceptible to EGR valve clogging and oil circuit fouling under heavy urban use — a common pattern with this type of light commercial vehicle. The DW10UTED4 variants (high-pressure common rail injection) are mechanically different from the early DW10FC versions and must not be confused when carrying out a replacement. On short PSA-coded blocks (G6Dx), the vehicle's exact production start year is critical to avoid a reference error.
