Trafic 2.8 dCi: 5-speed manual or Quickshift, two gearboxes for a single S9W engine

The 2.8 dCi in the Trafic (engine code S9W, 1999–2001) was offered in two transmission configurations: a 5-speed manual gearbox and a Quickshift gearbox (automated manual). The latter is sold without the actuator or robot unit, which is a separate assembly and must be dealt with independently. Before placing any order, it is therefore essential to identify which type is actually fitted to the vehicle: confusion between the two families is common on this engine, as the bodywork and technical specification do not always make it clear.

When to have your own unit rebuilt rather than taking a replacement

The 2.8 dCi covers a very short production window, which makes certain references hard to come by.
