Hyundai diesel and petrol: from 2001 to 2023 models, why the same engine capacity doesn't mean the same part

On the Hyundai 2.0 CRDi, a single displacement figure covers at least four distinct engine codes: D4EA, D4EA-V, D4EA-F and D4EB, then D4HA on later generations. A gearbox or turbo suited to an ix35 D4HA cannot be fitted to a Santa Fe D4EA, even where engine capacity and power output are identical. The same trap recurs on the 1.5 CRDi — covered by both D4FA and D4FB depending on the variant — and on the 1.6 CRDi, where the D4FB code spans power outputs ranging from 90 to 128 hp across the i30 and Tucson, with parts not always interchangeable. The engine code, not the engine capacity, is the only reliable reference before placing any order.

Gearboxes and turbos: the two dominant families

The Hyundai catalogue brought together here covers four part families: gearboxes (the most represented), turbos, bare engines and transfer cases. Turbos account for a significant volume, particularly on the most common CRDi engines — 1.6, 1.7 and 2.0 — as well as on the T-GDI petrol units (G3LC, G4FJ). The gearboxes on offer are 5- or 6-speed manuals; there are no dual-clutch automatic gearboxes in this Hyundai catalogue. Transfer cases cover a more limited scope, principally the 4-wheel drive versions of the Tucson and Santa Fe.

Models covered and key points by engine family

The Tucson and i30 account for the greatest number of references, followed by the ix35 and i20. The catalogue extends to older models — H100 (D4BH / E4CB), Galloper, Terracan, Trajet (J3 CRDi) — where reconditioned parts sold on an exchange basis often remain the only viable alternative given the obsolescence of new parts. On the i30 and Tucson 1.7 CRDi, the codes D4FD and D4FE refer to two variants of the same engine block: check which one is stamped on the unit before taking any steps. The bare engines available cover nine references; they are supplied without ancillaries. For turbos, rebuilding your own unit is offered as an alternative to the standard exchange on certain references — the two options do not apply to the same families, so availability should be checked on the relevant product page.

    Frequently asked questions

Are your Hyundai parts compatible with my model?

We cover the vast majority of Hyundai engines. To get the exact part, give us your number plate or request an online quote: our advisers confirm compatibility using your registration document.

    Are reconditioned Hyundai parts reliable?

Yes. Every Hyundai part is reconditioned in our workshop, with wear parts replaced, bench-tested and guaranteed for up to 24 months. A reliable and far more affordable alternative to new, starting from a restored original part.

How does the exchange system work for a Hyundai part?

You order your reconditioned Hyundai part, we dispatch it, then you send us back your old unit (the core). We arrange all the transport both ways — you don't have to handle any logistics.

Do you deliver Hyundai parts everywhere, and how quickly?

Yes, we deliver throughout France and Europe. Depending on the availability of the reference, your Hyundai part leaves our workshop quickly, and you can pay in instalments, up to 10 payments.
