From the petrol T-Roc to the diesel T-Roc: two gearbox families with nothing in common

The T-Roc is a compact SUV designed for urban and suburban use, yet its day-to-day demands — frequent starts, mixed town and road driving — place very different stresses on the transmission depending on the engine chosen. On this model, Volkswagen made a clear-cut decision: the 1.5 TSI is fitted exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the 2.0 TDI and the 1.6 TSI are paired with a DSG 7. These two families share no architecture, no components and no associated engine codes.

Identifying the right gearbox: the engine code is the deciding factor

For the 6-speed manual on the 1.5 TSI, the relevant engine codes are DPCA and DADA. For the DSG 7 on the diesel and direct-injection petrol versions, the codes DFFA, DFGA and DTTC are involved. The same commercial designation can therefore conceal quite different mechanical configurations. The engine code — found on the engine plate or in the manufacturer's documentation — remains the only reliable way to pinpoint the correct reference among the codes UFH, SWT, SAP, VHQ and UAU listed in this collection.

DSG 7: what the reconditioned unit includes

The DSG 7 is a dual-clutch gearbox: it is supplied with a new dual clutch, but without the mechatronic unit. This is a structural point: the mechatronic unit — the electrohydraulic control module — is a separate reference and is never included with the gearbox. If the symptoms you are experiencing (jerking, refusal to change gear) point to this component, the diagnosis must be refined before placing any order. For the 1.5 TSI manual, no onboard electronics are involved: identification relies solely on the engine code and the gearbox references.
