DSG 7 or 6-speed manual on the T-Roc: which gearbox goes with which engine?

On the T-Roc, the answer depends entirely on the engine, not the trim level. The 1.5 TSI (engine codes DADA and DPCA) is paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual, whilst the 2.0 TDI (codes DFFA, , DFGA, , DTTC) and the 1.6 TSI both receive a DSG 7. Checking the engine code before placing any order is therefore essential: two T-Rocs with the same engine capacity can be fitted with gearboxes from entirely different families.

What the gearbox type means in technical terms

The 6-speed manual fitted to 1.5 TSI versions is a direct mechanical transmission with no electronic components embedded in the gearbox itself. The DSG 7 found on the diesel and 1.6 TSI versions is a dry dual-clutch gearbox: it incorporates a mechatronic unit, an electrohydraulic assembly whose failure mode is distinct from that of the gear trains. The DSG 7 gearboxes listed here are supplied without the mechatronic unit but with a new dual-clutch assembly included — worth checking if the original diagnosis pinpointed the fault in the hydraulic system or in the mechanical components.

Two reconditioning options available
