DSG 7 on the 1.6 TDI: what you need to know

The DSG 7 (DQ200) paired with the 1.6 TDI is a dry dual-clutch gearbox, known for mechatronic unit and clutch problems in the early years of the series. The version offered here is supplied without the mechatronic unit, with a new dual-clutch assembly included. This is an important point for diagnosis: if the fault is isolated to the mechatronic unit alone, the mechanical gearbox is not at fault.

5-speed manual: identification guide

The manual gearbox paired with the 1.6 TDI covers the same 2010–2020 window, but internal references vary according to model year and axle ratio. The part numbers in this collection (VWK, LZY, NQP, RAN, QPM, MLU, MLS, MHZ) correspond to specific configurations: a reference from a vehicle built before 2015 is not automatically compatible with a late-series Caddy. The engine code and the vehicle's production year are the two selection criteria that must always be cross-referenced.
