Unlike the 1.6 TDI or 2.0 TDI in the Touran, the 1.9 TDI was never paired with a DSG or any automated transmission on this generation. The only available transmission is a 6-speed manual, shared across all four engine codes concerned: BKC, BLS, BXE and BJB. The manual/automatic question simply does not arise here — it is the match between the engine code and the gearbox reference that determines the exact part required.

The eight references catalogued over this period (including FYG, GQN, LNP, KXD and JCM) are not all interchangeable with one another, despite sharing a common architecture. The engine code, year and power output (90 or 105 hp depending on the code) determine compatibility. BKC and BXE account for the bulk of production from 2003 to 2008; BLS and BJB appear later or on certain specific markets.
